Safety at Sea and BIMCO have published a white paper containing advice based on results and findings from Cyber Security Surveys produced over the last four years, as well as on feedback and knowledge from experts at roundtable events.

First draft gas tanker voyage charter party well underway

A joint project from BIMCO and the Association of Ship Brokers & Agents (U.S.A.), Inc. (ASBA) to develop a standard gas tanker voyage charter party took a big leap forward at a subcommittee meeting on 5-6 September. The aim of the project is to develop a standard form dedicated to the chartering of tankers for LPG, anhydrous ammonia and chemical gases based on the widely used tanker charter party, ASBATANKVOY.

BIMCO has been made aware of a company in India named Grand Shipping & Trading Company who is presenting themselves as a company facilitating BIMCO memberships.

Marsden Point, New Zealand, Tops new BIMCO terminal vetting report

Marsden Point, New Zealand came out as the highest rated bulk terminal in BIMCOs Terminal Vetting Scheme. With 161 ships from 132 companies involved in the scheme, the report now covers 419 terminals globally. Just under 95% of the reports were rated average or better, which gave an average rating of 3.6 (out of five), suggesting positive trends for the future.

BIMCO urges nations to co-operate after new Hormuz attacks

BIMCO is urging nations to defuse tension and work together through diplomatic efforts following new attacks on two tankers at the Strait of Hormuz on 13 June.

Gulf of Guinea Piracy Continues to Threaten Seafarers – Industry Wants Action Now

London: Friday, 7 June 2019.  Members of the shipping community, Flag States and Agencies from Gulf of Guinea gathered at the Headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for a day-long symposium on Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea. The event, co-sponsored by BIMCO, IMCA, ICS, ITF and OCIMF, featured speakers from regional maritime agencies as well as shipping officials, academics and military staff.  The shipping industry, along with seafarer groups, organized the event to highlight the continuing danger to seafarers operating in the Gulf of Guinea.

New Cyber Security Clause from BIMCO now available

A new standard Cyber Security Clause requiring the parties to implement cyber security procedures and systems to help reduce the risk of an incident, is now available from the BIMCO website.
