A Group C cargo is a cargo which is neither classified as group A nor group B. Group B cargoes are those which possess a chemical hazard that could give rise to a dangerous situation on a ship.

Bauxite cargoes are problematic cargoes capable of experiencing severe liquefaction which unknown at that time, was actually dynamic separation, a phenomenon discovered based on the outcome of the work of the Global Bauxite Working Group. These cargoes will experience dynamic separation, if they are not carried in accordance with the requirements of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes ( IMSBC) Code.
