BIMCO project shows 80% admin-workload reduction for masters

The Maritime Reporting Model (MRM), developed by BIMCO and partners, can reduce the administrative workload for ship masters by 80% in connection with port calls, which can enhance the masters focus on safely navigating the ship.

BIMCO supports global seabed mapping initiative

Knowing the depth and shape of the seafloor (bathymetry) is fundamental for our understanding of ocean circulation, tides, sediment transport and environmental change. Currently, and despite many years of effort, less than 20 per cent of the ocean seafloor has been mapped. Therefore, BIMCO supports the Seabed 2030 initiative and encourages the industry to contribute with input into the project via an online survey.

BIMCO hosts first industry consultation event to discuss future governance of the Sargasso Sea

The Sargasso Sea is a unique, iconic and globally important high seas ecosystem. Keeping the Sargasso Sea healthy and sustainably productive chiefly hinges on the balance between appropriate utilisation and conservation of its natural resources- achieved by effective collaboration between actors within its area undertaking conservation, stewardship, or commercial and industrial activities, To discuss this BIMCO hosted a consultation event - introducing the GEF-UNDP-UNESCO-IOC Sargasso Sea Project to the international shipping community and highlighting potential opportunities for mutually-beneficial participation.
