The International Maritime Organization ( IMO) providing guidelines on the type and structure of information that is required in the process of arranging for a cargo to be listed in the IMSBC Code pursuant to 1.3.3 of the said Code.
The BIMCO Dry Bulk Cargo Network had its first successful meeting early this year. With issues ranging from the use of proper cargo names and identifying dangerous goods to the shipment of UN 3077 cargoes under the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code, the second meeting promises to be even more engaging for owner members.
To get members ready for the new Code coming into effect 1 January 2019, BIMCO gives a run down of the major amendments that would impact members' business dealing with the carriage of dry bulk cargoes.
BIMCO will be attending the IMO in London for the 4th session of the Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC), which will be held from 11 to 15 September 2017.
A new Bauxite circular warning about a new hazard of these cargoes relating to moisture has been issued by the IMO following the meeting held by its Sub-committee on the Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC) last week. This new IMO bauxite circular supersedes CCC.1/Circ.2 and issues new guidance on the carriage of bauxite cargoes.
Due to a couple of incidents in late 2015 and early 2016 shipments of palm kernel shells were were shown to emit very high levels of methane (flammable ) gas in the cargo spaces.
