Capesize order book slips to 5% of fleet as contracting falls

18 October 2023

At the start of October, the capesize order book was at 20 million DWT, a mere 5% of the capesize fleet. Low freight rates paired with a young fleet are keeping the order book small.

The programme has been developed jointly by the Antwerp Maritime Academy, The Belgian Shipowners Association, and BIMCO. Each organisation contributed unique skills to enhance the program's quality and relevance. The programme is practical in scope, with a visit to the Port of Antwerp and presentations on contemporary topics like global regulations affecting shipping and their commercial strategies, sustainability efforts in shipping, and an overview of shipping as a critical infrastructure component in global trade.
