Brown Fused Alumina

Description

Mandatory Application of this cargo schedule: applies only to cargoes containing less than 10% of fine particles less than 1mm. 

 

Description: This is a cargo that comprises of brown or greyish granules, with aluminium oxide as main component. Bulk density: 1,650 - 2,000 kg/m3.  Non-IMSBC Code information: use in the manufacture of refractories, grinding tools, etc. This material is made by melting at a high temperature, around 2000 deg C  of high quality bauxite or gaolin stone, coal, iron scrap and other raw materials in an electric arc furnace. After the process of crushing, shaping, magnetic separation and iron removal, the grain size is sieved. It is normally stored in a cool, dry place. Cargo is insoluble in water. No chemical reaction occurs when in contact with water and no heat is released Odourless. Non-cohesive ( free-flowing) cargo. ( ref: CCC 7/5/8 and CCC 7/inf.10).
