As a result of a rising number of shipments of industrial raw materials such as bauxite, coal and iron ore being transported under COAs, BIMCO is working on a new standard form of contract of affreightment (COA).
BIMCO’s Documentary Committee has positively received a new standard Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the sale and purchase of ships, thereby opening the doors to wide industry consultation before finalising and publishing the new standard next year.
BIMCO has drafted a standard form which can provide documentation for shipowners unable to buy compliant fuel in a port. The standard will be discussed at the Intersessional meeting the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in July.
