BIMCO, ICS and other industry partners have teamed up and presented the IMO with a list of recommendations for governments and relevant national authorities on the facilitation of maritime trade during the COVID-19 pandemic.
BIMCO, the world’s largest shipping association, has moved a step closer to finishing a global set of guidelines needed to protect the marine environment from invasive species and reduce CO2 emissions. Currently, there is no common global standard for cleaning ships’ hulls to avoid transferring invasive aquatic species, nor for the potentially damaging debris washed off in the process.
BIMCO attended the 5th session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 5) to further develop the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels.
