Dynamic Precision at Sea: BIMCO publishes DP Annex for SUPPLYTIME 2017

BIMCO achieves a significant milestone with the release of the Dynamic Positioning (DP) Annex for SUPPLYTIME 2017, underscoring its commitment to advancing contractual standards in the shipping industry. The newly published Annex establishes a standardised framework for the use, maintenance, and operations of DP systems in the offshore sector, providing clarity and guidance for industry stakeholders adding to the suite of Special Tasks Annexes already published.

A new addition to the SUPPLYTIME 2017 annex library is underway: Dynamic Positioning Annex

BIMCO has established a new subcommittee to develop a Dynamic Positioning (DP) Annex for the SUPPLYTIME 2017. The DP Annex is expected to be the next addition to the library of specialist pro-forma Annexes, which is being developed by BIMCO in collaboration with industry experts. It will provide a framework for the use of DP systems in the offshore and other relevant sectors.

The carriage of chemicals in bulk is governed by SOLAS Chapter VII - Carriage of dangerous goods and MARPOL Annex II - Regulations for the Control of Pollution by Noxious Liquid Substances in Bulk . The Conventions require chemical tankers built after 1 July 1986 to comply with the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code). Sierra Leone to implement IMO 2020 penalties for non-compliant fuel

From 1 September 2021, ship owners and operators calling at ports in Sierra Leone risk penalties of up to USD 15,000 if they carry fuel with a sulphur content exceeding 0.5 percent. Ships or members experiencing problems related to enforcement of MARPOL Annex V or unavailability of compliant fuel are encouraged to inform BIMCO via email hsse@bimco.org with “IMO 2020” in the subject field.

Liquid Cargo Database has reached 310 cargo entries

The BIMCO Liquid Cargo Database is kept updated and in line with The International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code) and MARPOL Annex II Regulations for the Control of Pollution by Noxious Liquid Substances in Bulk.
