The United Nations World Food Programme Voyage Charter Party, WORLDFOOD 2017, is a BIMCO approved document to which the UN World Food Programme holds the copyright. The contract is used for shipments of food to emergency areas to save the lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. The WORLDFOODRECEIPT 2017 is its accompanying contract of carriage. The latest edition of this contract is WORLDFOOD 2017.

Richard Williams

Richard Williams was a partner with Ince & Co for 25 years and was chairman of the firm’s dry shipping business group specialising in carriage of goods, charter parties and P&I issues. He was regularly consulted both by private clients and also by United Nations agencies and other international bodies in relation to industry-wide issues. He is the author of numerous articles on shipping law and is co–author of the standard textbook “Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims” published by Lloyds of London Press (4th edition 2005). He is now a consultant to Ince & Co and a visiting professor, teaching maritime law at Swansea University.

Peter Sand

Peter Sand is Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO. He has worked for Statistics Denmark, compiling public accounts and doing international statistical work in relation to the European Union and United Nations. He then joined D/S NORDEN and during the rise and fall of the dry bulk markets, Peter gained experience in the fields of executive assistance, caretaking of investors and the art of transforming financial data and shipping statistics into analyses, presentations and reports. Later on he worked with CSR with a focus on sustainable shipping. Peter left D/S NORDEN as Senior Analyst and member of the Corporate Social Responsibility Board and joined BIMCO in 2009. He holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Copenhagen.

Sustainability and women in shipping highlighted at IOPC meeting

At the most recent International Oil Pollution Compensation (IOPC) Funds meeting in London, Ban Ki-moon, former United Nations Secretary-General, spoke to representatives, IMO staff and the Funds’ Secretariat about the value of shipping to international trade, climate change and encouraging and empowering women to play a greater role in shipping.
