The news that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) intends to take a 20% stake in the $18 billion under-construction Dangote Refinery caused us to stop and consider what the impact of this would be. Then a couple of weeks later it was announced that NNPC will supply at least 300k b/d of crude to the 650 k b/d refinery. Nigeria and ICC announce ground-breaking antipiracy forum

In an unprecedented move, Nigeria and the Interregional Coordination Centre for the Implementation of Regional Strategy for Maritime Safety and Security in Central and West Africa (ICC) have announced the formation of a Maritime Collaboration Forum to provide shared awareness and deconfliction of activities in the Gulf of Guinea (GOG-MCF/SHADE). The forum is for all stakeholders, both regional and international.

Industry backs United Nations $5 billion "moon-shot" programme to decarbonise shipping

Round Table Shipping Organisations Highlight Key Issues for the Maritime Industry

Leaders of the Round Table of International Shipping Associations - BIMCO, INTERCARGO, International Chamber of Shipping and INTERTANKO - met virtually last week to debate key issues facing the maritime industry today. At the meeting, the associations affirmed the industry’s commitment to universal recognition for seafarers, the decarbonisation of shipping and addressing the threat to shipping from piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
