Description

Is a mineral: natural hydrated magnesium silicate; soft with a soapy or greasy feel and whitish, green or grey in colour. Bulk density: 1,370-1,563 kg/m3. Non-IMSBC Code information: Is also a rock, known as steatitie or soapstone, composed of varying proportions of the mineral talc combined with other minerals (eg chlorite and carbonate). Very resistant to heat, acids and alkalies. Used for the production of talcum powder, also as a lubricant in ceramics, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, filler material for paints, rubber and insecticides, and electrical insulation.
