Colour varying from cream to white to medium dark grey (when its freshly broken). Moisture content: up to 4%.  Bulk density: 1,190 - 1,493 kg/m3. Non-IMSBC Code information - rock which is sedimentary (i.e., connected with or formed from sand, stones and settling at the bottom of lakes etc.) and containing calcium carbonate. Appears either in powder or crystal form. Almost insoluble in water, alcohol but soluble in diluted form of acids. Used as a source of lime; neutralising agent, filler, and extender in rubber, plastics, paints; whitewash, production of carbon dioxide in laboratory, antacid etc.
