Clay

Description
It is a fine grained earthy material, usually light to dark grey, comprising of 10% soft lumps and 90% soft grains. It is normally moist, yet not wet to the touch. Moisture is up to 25%. Bulk density (kg/m3): 746 to 1,515. Non-IMSBC Code information: insoluble in water and organic solvents. Used as filler and coating for paper and in the manufacture of refractories, ceramics, cements and fertilisers. Is one of the three principle types of soil. 
Trade Names (Synonyms)
China clay ( kaolin) - ball clay - bentonite - bloating clay - common clay - fuller's earth - hydrated aluminium silicate - pottery clay - refractory clay; depending on their use classified accordingly by their physical properties.
