Overview
This masterclass covers principles on laytime and demurrage for both dry and wet trades. The course examines, in a practical way, the application of laytime and demurrage in the daily operations. It covers the key legal concepts and a step-by-step approach to effectively use the knowledge to work strategically with laytime calculations to boost profitability.
What will you learn?
The Masterclass covers much more than just the fundamentals of laytime and demurrage. It provides a much broader awareness of the commercial and operational use of laytime as an independent profit source, irrespective of which side of the contract you are on. Understanding what the other parties to a contract wish to achieve, is a key aspect of avoiding costly and time-consuming disputes. The masterclass takes a 360 degree look at laytime and demurrage from the point of view that the parties to a commodity contract and a charter party may have different very different priorities, but both wish to avoid costly contractual mistakes.

Course certification
Participants will be given an option of taking a final assessment (1-hour open-book test) at the end of the course, and Certificate of Achievement will be issued with a grade (distinction, merit or pass). Those not taking the assessment will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Course materials
BIMCO issues electronic course files as an Adobe PDF file enabling you to make personal notes. All documentation and presentations will be in English. Course access details will be provided once the registration is completed.
You will also receive access to BIMCO's eLearning modules on "Dry Cargo Laytime & Demurrage" and "Tanker Laytime & Demurrage".
