Initiatives that engage commercial ships in making ocean observations are a win-win situation. Whilst there is a benefit to ocean science, the shipping industry shares that benefit through the application of the knowledge gained to optimise voyage planning, improve maritime safety and improve understanding the impact of shipping and how to mitigate it.  All of which contribute to the general sustainability efforts being taken by the industry.  But its daunting to even know where to start. Join us as we demystify the topic and inspire you to become involved.

  • How over the past 100+ years with ~100 ocean class research vessels worldwide, oceanographers have only been able to research ~20% of our oceans.
  • How an evolution in scientific sensor technologies can allow  "Plug & Play" scientific sensors—optimised for a vessel’s trade route to address societally-relevant questions, with the data used for the advancement of scientific knowledge.
  • How shipping can revolutionise our knowledge of the oceans

This 30-minute webinar begins at 12:00 UTC (See your time zone here)
