What will you learn?

The Bill of Lading is at the core of international trade. The course focuses on common issues in B/L disputes (such as claused B/L’s, general average, LOI’s and liens) as well as on how this is legally dealt with worldwide. The seminar is highly practical and focuses on practical solutions to common B/L problems.

On the first day of this training program, you will learn how the contract of sale relates to INCOTERMS, the connection between the contract of carriage and the bill of lading, and the insurance contract's role in managing risks.

This is followed by a session where we review the key players in international transport operations, including owners, charterers, carriers, freight forwarders, and NVOCCs and how each party has different commercial requirements and demands.

Equipped with this understanding, you will explore topics like international cargo conventions, other situations arising from the use of bill of lading, bill of lading functions, and carrier liability.

Each session builds upon the last, offering a comprehensive grasp of the complexities inherent in international trade and transportation.
