The seminar explores how emerging technologies, such as autonomous vessels and blockchain, transform shipping operations, drive efficiency, and enhance security. It also addresses the growing importance of sustainability in maritime practices, highlighting initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and comply with environmental regulations.

Additionally, the seminar examines the significant impact of increased protectionism on global trade, providing critical insights into how shifting political landscapes influence maritime operations. As governments adopt more protectionist policies, such as tariffs and trade restrictions, the flow of goods across international borders may become increasingly disrupted. This session covers how these changes may alter trade routes, forcing businesses to adapt to new supply chain challenges and reconsider traditional shipping patterns. Furthermore, it explores how these geopolitical shifts affect market stability, influencing both the demand for shipping services and the overall competitiveness of the global maritime industry.

What will you learn?

We will explore the evolving landscape of the shipping industry, focusing on emerging trends and their potential impact on commercial operations. You will learn about technological advancements such as automation, AI, blockchain, and IoT and their role in transforming shipping, alongside the critical need for sustainability through decarbonisation and energy efficiency. You will also gain insight into expected regulatory changes in cybersecurity, seafarer welfare, and environmental regulations. The sessions will cover the challenges and opportunities these shifts present.
