On 8 October, BIMCO and the Hong Kong Chamber of Shipping formalised a new chapter in maritime collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening global cooperation in the maritime transport sector.
The agreement underscores the shared recognition of the sector’s vital role in driving global economic growth and social development. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to fostering mutual cooperation and enhancing the longstanding friendly relations between international maritime stakeholders — rooted in principles of equality and mutual benefit.
Key areas of collaboration outlined in the MoU include maintaining a continuous dialogue to address emerging industry challenges and sharing expertise and best practices to support innovation and operational excellence, promotion of BIMCO standard contracts for wide usage in China including to translate selected contracts into Chinese. This strategic partnership marks a significant step toward deeper integration and cooperation within the global maritime community.
