From 1 September to 30 November 2025, Port State Control (PSC) authorities under the Paris MoU and Tokyo MoU will conduct a joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) focusing on Ballast Water Management (BWM). It is expected that the majority of PSC regimes will join this campaign, which will run alongside regular PSC inspections.
A CIC is a targeted inspection effort by PSC authorities, focusing on specific areas of maritime regulations that are deemed higher risk or where new regulations are being implemented. These campaigns are conducted typically over a three-month period and involve a pre-defined questionnaire to assess compliance. The results are then analysed, and findings are reported to relevant international bodies.
