Vacancy for Sales Manager, Membership

At BIMCO, the world’s largest shipping association, we are looking for a driven and relationship-oriented shipping professional to join our Membership Team in Copenhagen.

You will work closely with the Head of Membership to strengthen engagement with our global member base and expand our community across EMEA. 

About the role

As Membership Engagement & Sales Manager, you will be responsible for nurturing relationships with existing members and canvassing new members across the maritime industry. You will engage with stakeholders at all levels — from technical and operational professionals to legal experts, chartering managers, and C-level executives.

You will be part of a dedicated team of five colleagues who support and grow BIMCO’s global membership community across the world, with focus on EMEA. Moreover, you will be taking an active commercial role in promoting BIMCO’s full portfolio of services, including Training programmes, SmartCon, Ship PI, Publications etc.

Key responsibilities

  • Proactively canvass and engage potential members through phone, Teams, and in-person meetings
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with existing members
  • Promote and sell BIMCO membership and associated products and services
  • Engage with members in Networks and panels
  • Assist in creating and developing communities around key industry topics

About you

We imagine you bring a few years of experience from the shipping industry — whether in chartering, operations, agency work, or from time at sea. With this background, you’re ready to transition into a sales role where you can apply your commercial insight and operational understanding in a new way.

In this position, you’ll leverage your hands-on industry knowledge to engage confidently with stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.

You are:

  • Experienced in relationship-based and canvas selling
  • Comfortable engaging with technical, legal, operational and executive stakeholders
  • Goal-driven and motivated by targets
  • Trustworthy, credible and professional in your approach
  • A strong communicator with full fluency in written and spoken English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A collaborative team player with the drive to grow membership and strengthen industry engagement
  • You enjoy being externally visible, building networks, and representing an organisation with authority and integrity in the global maritime space

Practical information

Location: Copenhagen

Employment: Full-time

Travel: 40-60 days per year (EMEA region)

Start date: as soon as possible
