We are seeking a motivated, structured, and business-oriented Assistant Manager to support our membership development and administrative operations in Asia. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving BIMCO’s engagement with existing and potential members, supporting business development initiatives, and ensuring the smooth running of our Shanghai office.
By joining BIMCO, you will become part of the world’s largest international shipping association with a mission to be at the forefront of global developments in shipping — providing expert knowledge and practical advice to safeguard and add value to our members’ businesses. You will work closely with colleagues across our international offices and departments.
What you will be doing
- Assist in BIMCO’s membership development efforts — including data collection and analysis, managing follow-ups with late payers, and maintaining regular dialogue with existing and potential members in Asia
- Provide administrative support to the BIMCO Shanghai office, including coordination of meetings, events, and local membership initiatives
- Execute marketing and promotional activities for BIMCO Asia events, including social media updates, email campaigns, and other outreach initiatives
- Support BIMCO’s training sales in Asia, including online, face-to-face, and in-house training courses
- Assist, when needed, in BIMCO’s Intervention Services in Asia under the supervision of the Support & Advice Team
- Undertake special assignments, tasks, or projects as requested by Management, including attendance at meetings, events, and travel when required.
We are looking for a candidate who...
- Has strong administrative skills
- Is familiar with Office 365 and preferably with good general IT skills
- Is fluent in written and spoken English; Chinese language skills are an advantage
- Works in a systematic and structured manner
- Has a strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Has strong teamwork skills
- Preferably has a background or interest in the shipping or maritime industry — a technical or commercial shipping background is preferred.
