Case studies

A vessel is chartered to go from Hamburg to Greece with 10 pieces of heavylift cargo. The vessel encounters heavy weather in the Bay of Biscay and two pieces lashed on deck are lost overboard and another three stowed under deck turns out to be damaged. Is the carrier liable for the loss of the cargo? And how much might be recovered from the carrier, if that is the case?

In the case study, participants will work in small groups to consider the full scenario and a range of problems and questions that arise. The cases will be a focus for dialogue and will help the participants understand the complexities of heavy lift cargo.

Why choose to participate?
