Trading restrictions imposed by Lebanon

  • Arab League Boycott of Israel: Lebanon's Position
    According to information received from local contacts, Lebanon fully adheres to the Arab League's boycott of Israel (I.e. primary, secondary and tertiary boycotts).

    Seamen with an Israeli stamp/visa in the seaman book should not be on board.

    On 23 October 2013 it was reported that with immediate effect all vessels must obtain a certification from the Boycott Office of Israel in the Ministry of Economy and Trade prior to calling at a Lebanese port ensuring that the vessel is not blacklisted and allowed to call at Lebanese ports / terminals.  A copy of the said certificate from the Boycott Office of Israel is to be presented to the relevant port authorities together with the Notice of vessel's ETA to a Lebanese port. 

    The following announcement was issued on the Ministry of Economy and Trade website.

    "The circular issued by the Ministry of Economy and Trade No. 1/2 / at Date 21/7/2010
    Date: 03 Oct, 2013

    According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Economy and Trade No. 1/2 / at Date 21/7/2010, requests from all Lebanese companies and foreign provide statement to the county office of Israel in the Ministry of Economy and Trade to make sure in advance of the legal status of the foreign company before dealing with it,fill out the form available on the official website of the ministry on the Internet: www.economy.gov.lb - Electronic Portal 

    The required basic data:  The caller name - the name of the foreign company - nationality - work - the nature of their work"
