BIMCO is encouraging shipowners to authorise their respective flag state administrations or recognised organisations to report their Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) values for all applicable new ships in their fleet to the The International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The move will help to drive efficiency, providing standardised information, reducing the administrative burden for ships and administrations.
The 3rd meeting of the BIMCO ESG networked delved into the issue of standardising data and information on ESG parameters – shining a light on the ever-increasing volume of and diversity in requests from customers and other stakeholders.
Shipowners are being invited to submit data and information directly to the World Maritime University on the Ballast Water Convention to build a complete and realistic picture of how it is really working.
We have set up a subcommittee to further support decarbonisation efforts. Recognising the crucial role of reliable data and energy efficiency, we are drafting two clauses: a Data Sharing and Energy Efficiency Performance Clause and a Retrofit Cost/Benefit Clause.
