All tankers carrying liquid cargoes governed by the International Code for Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code) and MARPOL Annex II should be checked and verified for compliance ahead of the regulatory changes that are taking effect from the new year.

Dangers associated with the carriage of bauxite

Bauxite cargoes are problematic cargoes capable of experiencing severe liquefaction which unknown at that time, was actually dynamic separation, a phenomenon discovered based on the outcome of the work of the Global Bauxite Working Group. These cargoes will experience dynamic separation, if they are not carried in accordance with the requirements of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes ( IMSBC) Code. Providing the relevant guidance here to guide members accordingly.

IMDG Code Amendment 39-18, 2018 Edition

Providing the significant changes under the Amendment 39-18, 2018 edition to the IMDG Code. Note that the IMDG Code, Amendment 39-18, 2018 edition, published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is mandatory from 1 January 2020 and applicable for two years until the next edition of the IMDG Code becomes mandatory from 2022.
