Winners of the BIMCO Awards 2016 announced in Shanghai

BIMCO today presented three awards to recognise and celebrate excellence in the global shipping industry among both companies and individuals in the industry – following BIMCO’s conference in Shanghai. This year the importance of leadership, innovation and pioneering business strategy in shipping were clearly recognised by the judges in the choice of winners.

Alternative arbitration centres

BIMCO recognises that there is a growing number of newer maritime arbitration venues offering their services to the industry. To assist users who wish to resolve their disputes using arbitration services outside the main London, New York and Singapore venues, BIMCO has prepared a list of links to alternative arbitration centres where users can find out more information about these venues.

IMEC and ITF opens big quarantine and testing facility in Manila

The International Maritime Employer’s Council (IMEC) and the International Transport Worker’s Federation (ITF) have set up quarantine and testing facilities in Manila to facilitate crew changes and address concerns about quarantine quality and fake COVID-19 tests.

Jan Rindbo is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Danish shipping company Dampskibsselskabet Norden A/S, a position he has held since 2015. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the industry, having worked in shipping for over 20 years in various positions that have taken him from Copenhagen to Hong Kong and the United States. Rindbo has attended various executive management training courses through INSEAD and Copenhagen Business School and hold directorships at the Danish trade and employer organisation Danish Shipping and BIMCO.
