New criteria for tracking and monitoring equipment used in transport of dangerous goods under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods ( IMDG) Code were finalised at the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Sub-Committee for the Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC) at their 8th meeting held from 14 to 23 September 2022. A transitional phase for implementation was also introduced.
BIMCO continues to receive enquiries on UN 3077 solid bulk cargoes and how they should be handled under the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes ( IMSBC) Code. BIMCO provides an explanation including an interpretation on how these cargoes are viewed in the IMSBC Code.
A Group A and B cargo is one which may liquefy/dynamically separate ( Group A) and possess chemical hazards ( Group B). Note : Group A cargoes are cargoes which possess a hazard due to moisture that may result in liquefaction or dynamic separation if shipped at a moisture content in excess of their transportable moisture limit. Group B cargoes are cargoes which possess a chemical hazard that could give rise to a dangerous situation on a ship
