Geraldine is a solicitor qualified in England and Wales and recently joined ITIC as Senior Claims Executive. She previously worked in private practice at Ince (London and Paris) and MFB Solicitors for 8 years, handling a wide range of shipping and commercial disputes on behalf of owners, charterers, cargo claimants, P&I Clubs, H&M underwriters and other insurers, with a particular focus on casualty work. She regularly acted on behalf of clients in arbitration proceedings and the English Courts, and assisted with resolving disputes via settlement discussions and mediations.
A recent dispute about laytime in a Ukrainian port was dropped as soon as BIMCO’s advice about holiday legislation and labour laws was received.
Elli has practised in both common law and civil law jurisdictions, having lived and worked in the UK, Netherlands and Greece. She is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales and an Attorney at Law in Greece. She has experience with High Court disputes and arbitration (LMAA, LCIA and ICC) and works on a wide range of wet and dry shipping matters, including salvage and wreck removal, offshore decommissioning projects, speed and performance claims, charterparty, and ship management agreement disputes. Previously, Elli worked in the legal department of an international company specialising in salvage and decommissioning services.
SYNACOMEX 2023 is a grain voyage charter party. It was originally drafted by the French Union for Grain and Seeds Trade (Syndicat National du Commerce Extérieur des grains et graines oléagineuses – SYNACOMEX) and the French Shipowners’ Association (Armateurs de France), with the assistance of the Maritime Arbitration Chamber of Paris (Chambre Arbitrale Maritime de Paris) and the French Shipbrokers’ Association (Chambre Syndicale des Courtiers d’Affrètement Maritime et de Vente de Navires de France). It has been approved by BIMCO. The latest edition of this contract is SYNACOMEX 2023.
