Marine Safety Advisory From the Republic of the Marshall Islands

Overview

Incidents and accidents related to Entry into Enclosed Spaces on board – still a major problem after decades of developing guidance and regulations.

BIMCO have received the attached Marine Safety Advisory(MSA) No. 23-18  from the Republic of the Marshall Islands regarding Confined Space Entry. The MSA has been issued after new incidents and accidents on board a bulk carrier and a tanker flying their flag causing loss of consciousness for two seafarers and deaths of three other seafarers during entry into enclosed spaces.
