"Seafarers Matter" - Paris MoU releases its appropriately titled Annual Report for 2016. See its full report.   
There was a total of 17,480 inspections of ships carried out in 2016. Inspection results showed that there was a large increase in the refusal of access ( banning) within the region: 20 bans  compared to 11 in 2015. There was an increase in the detention of ships; from 3.4% to 3.8%. The number of detainable deficiencies also increased  by 7.3% compared  to 2015. The 5 most frequently recorded deficiencies in 2016 were “ISM”, “fire doors/openings in fire-resisting divisions”, “nautical publications”, “charts” and “oil record book”, similar to 2015. The concentrated inspection campaign carried on Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 which resulted in 42 detentions and the various changes to the "White, Grey and Black List" are also elaborated in the said report.
