Free mental health hotline for BIMCO members during the Christmas season
Overview
As the ongoing pandemic continues to put a strain on seafarers’ wellbeing, the Mental Health Support Solutions has offered BIMCO members free access to their mental help support during the Christmas and New Year season
2020 has placed huge pressures on people working in the maritime sector, both onboard and onshore. Mental Health Support Solutions (MHSS) is a leading provider of professional psychological and mental health support and solutions, and the organization has offered to make its professional psychologists available to BIMCO members and their staff, free of charge over the Christmas and New Year period from 24 December 2020 to 1 January 2021 (inclusive).
It is believed that the pressures on maritime professionals will increase during Christmas and New Year. Therefore, BIMCO members and their staff can communicate with MHSS’ professional psychologists 24/7 – by freephone call or whatsapp. All communications are anonymous and their multi-lingual team will listen, diagnose and prescribe any relief required.
To register, please email Christian Ayerst, CEO of Mental Health Support Solutions, with an estimation of the numbers of vessels and staff (on shore and at sea) who will have access to the service. Once registered, MHSS will provide members with e-posters and other information to distribute containing the contact details.
