BIMCO’s Chief Shipping Analyst Peter Sand will moderate the “Dry Bulk Market Outlook: Sustaining Cautious Optimism for Calmer Waters” panel discussion, scheduled for 23 November at 16:00-17:30. Peter Sand will be joined by Burak Cetinok, Head of Research at Arrow Shipbroking Group and Angad Banga, Chief Operating Officer at The Caravel Group.
The panel will discuss the dry bulk industry in the wake of better-than-expected demand indicators, as the worst of the downturn has passed for the dry bulk freight market. Now there is cautious optimism for recovery! Demand for sea transport grows steadily with increased infrastructure investment in emerging nations, along with great expectations from the Belt and Road Initiative. Some of the key discussion points will be what is needed for sustainable recovery and how the sector can return to profitability in the short-to-medium-term.
The Asian Logistic and Maritime Conference will be held between 23 and 24 November 2017, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong.
The Asian Logistic and Maritime conference aims to bring a wide variety of service providers and users together. From manufacturers and distributors to retailers and brand owners, to discuss the latest trends and opportunities in Asia's logistics, air cargo, supply-chain management and maritime industries.
BIMCO’s Regional Manager for Asia Wayne Zhuang will be present at the conference, where he will team up with Peter for a string of events during the Hong Kong Maritime Week, such as the Maritime CEO Forum 2017 Hong Kong, and the 60th anniversary celebration for the Hong Kong Shipowners’ Association. On top of that, BIMCO will host a roadshow in Shanghai during the same week. For those who are interested, please keep an eye on the BIMCO website for further details.

Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.
The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
