US Coast Guard issues new type approval certificate on ballast water management systems
Overview
US Coast Guard issues the fifth ballast water management system type approval certificate to Ecochlor, Inc.
BIMCO has received information from the US Coast Guard Marine Safety Center, that they have issued a ballast water management system (BWMS) type approval certificate to Ecochlor, Inc.
The certificate is the fifth type approval certificate related to BWMS, issued after a detailed review of the manufacturer’s type approval application. USCG have determined the system met the requirements of 46 CFR 162.060.
The treatment principle of the Ecochlor BWTS is based on a three-step process consisting of filtering and chemical injection on uptake, along with in-tank sampling of chlorine dioxide concentrations. This approval covers fourteen models with maximum treatment rated capacities between 500 m3/h and 16,200 m3/h.
