BIMCO's Gudrun Janssens, Manager, Intergovernmental Engagement, will be a speaker on ship recycling and the global economy.
According to BIMCO, the next decade is expected to witness the recycling of over 15,000 ships, reflecting a remarkable increase of over 100% compared to the past ten years, partly due to stricter greenhouse gas regulations facing the shipping industry.
Now, when the Hong Kong Convention is set to enter into force, there is an unprecedented opportunity to rethink traditional models and positively transform the recycling industry.
By adopting sustainable disposal of end-of-life vessels and integrating ship recycling into the circular economy, the maritime industry can contribute to a resource-efficient global economy.
This event is part of SMM and gmec, and will take place at 14:50-15:30 CET on the Green Stage in Hall A4.
