Not many people working outside the narrow circle of the shipping industry know what it takes to transport a container, a car, a cargo of wheat or any other commodity from one port to another.

With this in mind, BIMCO has developed  Seascapes which is aimed at providing information for schools, journalists and the public at large about the shipping industry.

Because the shipping industry is a lively industry and to be able to reflect this, new information will be added every month.

Under "Maritime Matters" you can find information on  shipping and maritime transport facts and figures.

"Ships that serve us" contains contemporary merchant shipping and maritime trade information.

"Questions of shipping" provides information and discussions of broader maritime topics.

Finally "Sea View" will  focus on current maritime issues.

The Panama Canal and its expansion
A children's book explaining the benefits of the Panama Canal and its expansion written by Mr Phillip Embiricos, President Designate of BIMCO. The book is available in a PDF format (6mb) free of charge. Hardcopies of the book can be purchased from the BIMCO Secretariat.
